My little history and the Lego Dock

Hi everyone!

im proud of being part of this great community. Ive been reading the forum since March , then I fell in love with the iHP120 but when i save enough money it was discontinued here, in Spain. So after saving a little more I got my H320 on early August. It is great, I love it, etc, etc

One of the flaws of this model is the lack of a dock, when i purchased te H320 i didn't plan making one becouse i dont have many time (im a 22year old teleco-student and september is near) and after spending 420 euro i was far away from being a rich man

What I did then? ... You have read the subject so you already know the answer It was the first night i got my H320, then i stared at an old 3-wheel Lego bike. An old hobby reborn inside me... "could I manage to create a dock with some pieces? Lets try it out!!"

After a couple of hours, it was done! It is very simple but cheap (just an old toy) and quick, what else could i ask for (a firmware update maybe? ). Also i enjoyed making it!

So here you have the result (the pics are not very good but my digi cam has gone crazy):

Details:
-The USB Cable is carefully fixed so it plugs easily
-The AC Cable is free, i cant fix it so both cables plug OK

Monty

Welcome to MisticRiver Monty!!!

Dude, that dock is AWESOME!!! If I were the owner of an H320 I'd be asking for details on how to make one!

Don't forget, if you ever have any questions, we're here to answer, any time!

Lego is possibly the best childrens toy ever concieved, I spent far too much time as a kid playing with it, probably explains why I'm an engineer today! The Lego Dock is wicked, a brilliant idea, however I think you should build in some little turrets on each corner and put some Lego men on guard in case there are some ipod zelots near by planning to storm your dock and plunder your H320 for all its extra features!

Excellent work! Why stop at a dock though? Why not turn it into a castle or something ?

congrats on your dock, monty. Metal, wood, plastic, damn, could have thought of lego, so I'm definitely going to take out some of my old legos and try to realise one for my iHP-140. Thanks again for the idea

That certainly is one nice looking Lego dock! And after seeing a news report the other night that sales in Lego are dipping perilously low (apparently kids these days are too console fixated to play with Lego!) - I propose that we all head out now and buy ourselves bumper Lego Technik kits!

We can't let this institute of Scandinavian brilliance flounder in the 21st Century!!

I mean... I already have a dock, but not one made from Lego!

Definately, the only reason I'll have a kid is so I've got a good excuse to go out an buy more lego, oh and to sit around watching cartoons again! It would be a sad sad day if Lego ever disappeared off the shelves.

I'll try to make some pics from my nokia, with the digital camera is almost impossible (maybe a proffesional could do it even with a crazy camera). The USB is fixed with 3 bars and it is very hard to move it, but wait for the pics and you will see it better...

Nice one anzo! So you have enough space for the USB cable, right? You need 3 bars, one of them will help you bending the cable, the other two fix it so it cant make any move on the x axis. You can see these bars here:

Take a look at the red square: the two bars that fix the x axis are not straight, I think this is the key. In the front they are on consecutive holes and this is the back:

Then you only have to give the right angle to plug the H3XX easily. If you see from the upside, you should look something like this:

The height may vary, but at this point it will be easy:

If anyone can also fix the AC cable that would be absolutely great, i've tried it but with no results

P.S. Sorry for the bad pics :S
