iSkin - This Summer?
Just wondering if there was any news on the iSkin at all because i leave the US(holiday ) in august and would like to get one if i can.

I bought my iSkin months ago, they only made it for the iHP120 at the time, but it still fits the iHP-140 (only just), for a while someone sold them on Ebay and was posting on this forum too - and had a link to sell them (thanks to Jeff).

Now I'm about to buy the H340, so I'll have to wait for the iSkin for that next

Rubberkey rings a bell with me, but it does have the name iSkin moulded into it.
I don't have the link, but search these forums and you should find it discussed a while ago.

It's more than 60 days ago, so the ebay link I bought it from has expired.

yeah the rubberkey one pretends to be an iskin one, even has "iskin" printed on the packaging, but it is a copy, and not a real one.

rshea has the "iSkin" knock off from Rubberkey. I can tell you from experience that the case does serve its purpose. I even wrote a short review on it which is in the reviews section.

You guys read between the lines on my next answer to the question below...

Other than tell you that YES, they are developing a case for the H120/140 I am not permitted to say anything more at this point in time

Eventhough the rubberkey is a knock off from the iSkin, what's the main difference? Does the iSkin have some major quality or something? I'm just curious, I don't really know anything about either of them. My one question however is: Are the rubbery skin cases for H-120 not a pain to get on and off the player? Seem that they would be if their real tight and snugg.

They're tight and I hated that at first. It's not that bad if you fit the player through the screen hole instead of through the top. The iSkins will be much better quality from the looks of the ones for the iPods, but I haven't seen a Rubberkey skin on a 120, so it may look much better than it does on the 140 (which isn't overly great but it's good enough for me until iSkin releases). I've posted sort of mini reviews of the Rubberkey with my 140 in another topic...I'll check tomorrow because it's too late here and I'm too lazy to check now. I'll get back to you on that though.

can anyone explain what exactly iskin is? can i presume it is as it sounds, a skin for the ihp120/140 as opposed to say the vaja case or the case that come with the ihp which bulks them out somewhat.

i really like the belt clip on my case, but it makes the ihp too bulky (and it fugly brown).

i am desperate for a case that would cling to my ihp instead of bulk it out.

another thing, will iskin diffentaiate ebtween the models. the 140 is bigger and it seems people have just produced cases for the 120 and left 140 owners to squeeze their products in.

thanks for any info.

Is the stock case really brown? I'm kind of color blind and to me it looks like a light shade of black. Man, I didn't know about this particular manifestation of my color blindness. It makes me think what else I might be missing. Really, it's brown??

AFF, iSkin varies in sizes for the 40 GB and 20 GB ipods som I'm sure they will for H-series aswell.

Don't think case is brown (or I'm colour blind too).

Iskin (rubberkey) is great for my 120. I got mine from the ad here. I'd seen them mentioned on the irver forum, but hard to get help on that site!!!
The original (black?) case was too bulky to fit anywhere on my person.
The iskin is a cool colour, slimline, and as good protection as original case.
Also, It was cheap as chips.
It's not difficult to get it on or off 120 (maybe 140?)
It'd be great if iriver, or "real" Iskin did a similar case. A friend of mine just got a 140 and i wanted to get her a cool new skin that fits....

Well, funny you should ask that. I presume the original ipod ones did have a screen protector, but the rubberkey ones didn't. However, by the time I came to order mine, rubberkey guy was offering a screen protector with skin. The whole thing cost 11 Sterling I think. (Bout 18 Euro/20 Dollars). Unfortunately, when I ordered mine, he was out of screen protectors, so I didn't get one. I asked him to mail me when he has them, but so far no word. And the ad is gone from here, so dunno if he has them now or what. I am using just some fairly durable plastic I had at home, cut to size, which stays in oplace perfectly, due to the rubbery nature of the skin. So I can't say what the screen protector you get is like, but presume it's ok standard. (no more flimsy then the protector on original case).

i need this iskin then. badly!!!! and my clip case is most definately brown. most definately!

i emailed the guy that does the rubberkey product but he hasn't replied. couldn't order of his site either which is a shame.

i feel the urgent need for a good looking case.

It's true you could wait for a Real iskin case. But when will that be?
Also, imho, rubberkey is not "tacky". It looks and feels a lot better than the case my 120 came with. I just felt like I had this amazing player, with a crappy, ugly case. I kept going on, and on at my firends about how great it was, but had to take it out of the case to show them!

Aff>rubberkey took a day or so to get back to me, I think he is in Japan...

It's official that they've started working on it and how long could it take to develope really?! It's anyones choice, but I'm gonna wait. Their screen protector for the iPod's look really nice aswell.
