N10 on GMTV

I was watching TV this morning when gmtv did a thing about what presents to get your gf, and one of them was an iRiver N10, and even more supprising, there was no mention of the iPoo.

Damn - another reason why I should have got up earlier this morning !

Was it the standard or the white one, Lewis, and what did the have to say about it?

As for no mention of the iP*d, that's surprising, since other shows *cough*The Gadget Show*cough* were all over the Mini like a rash. They even reviewed the Carbon and MPIO's offering, but claimed that technically superior machines such as the aforementioned (and especially the Carbon), were in fact a waste of time . From that point on, I disregarded any information put forward to me by The *Gadget* Show.

It was the black one, they didnt really say anything about its features or anything. they just listed a whole load of gift ideas, one of them being 'this neckless mp3 player from iriver' or something like that to make it sound like a fashion accessory.

Programmes like 'The Gadget Show' and similar, and their equally dire countparts like the gaming review stuff on TV, should really be a no-brainer to avoid like the plague.

Putting most of them i've been unlucky enough to experience into place, i'd say you'd be damn lucky if anyone of the 'faces' of the programmes actually knows sh*t about what they are trying to look good knowing about. More often than not, sh*t is about the quality of what little they do know - that's why they have researchers, so the 'faces' dont need to worry their poor overpaid overego burdened minds over

Yep, even this broadcaster dont hold back with the sharp claws and razor-edged tongue to spare his counterparts from a nasty bit of Fg criticism...

The gadget show among other shows is guilty of loving ipods too much. Its not surprising, it is on channel 5, so ipods are cheaop like them

LOL!

Yeh i totally agree with all you guys

Ip*d's are so overrated

1. everything the ipod can do, an iriver can do better! TRUE fact
2. IRIVER looks nicer In my opinion

for those two reasons surely you must go towards iriver i meen c'mon ip*d doesnt even have a colour screen in most of its models unless you fork out another £50-£100 just to get a colour screen and picture support which most or all of the irivers alredy have!

Well you can watch these programmes but they have to be muted or the brainwashing will work on you. They are good for a look at new technology as moving images in my opinion are much easier to work with than a basic picture.

If you go onto various non-iriver related forums, you get a fairly large number of people that are guilty of believing ipods are the best thing, since well, sliced bread.

sad but true....but Iriver does fail in at least 1 area, and that is with the lack of a jog wheel...very useful hardware for navigating long files, IMO.

In every other category, Iriver over Ipod all the way.

another thing that beats ipod,i dunno if this is tru on other irivers, but the h3XX can have files put on it from any comp, but an ipod, if u take it round ur m8s house n plug it in, u have to reformat ur ipod to work it on their itunes....i think apples reasoning for this is copywrite, but in this day n age, does ne1 care?

I just wanna start by saying "please don't hurt me!".

I saw one episode of the Gadget Show and it was ok.

They reviewed noise-cancelling headphones and worked out that a pair of Shure e2cs were better than those expensive Bose ones that work electronically.
Then they did an in-depth study on what type of portable media (memory cards, usb sticks etc) can withstand the most punishment (baking, freezing, a bath in vinegar, run over with a jeep, shot out a cannon at a wall etc).

It was ok, not great but ok.

Sounds alot like Brainiac: Science Abuse on Sky One, only they did it with a tough Mobie phone, radio and something else, Iforget, but thery did things like put them in the dishwasher and bbq-ed them.

Just to take this thread even further off topic, I've been getting into Myth Busters. I've always been a fan of blowing sh*t up in the name of science.
