iRiver SPINN and Lplayer

Ok, so it's been a little while since CES and we're now past the supposed February release date for the P10 and barrelling along towards the May date that should herald both the SPINN and the Lplayer, but there's still no news

So, I was just wondering if there were any rumblings on the horizon, any whispers of when we might start to see the new iRiver DAPs appearing on the market.

Right, I've seen the news on DAPreview, including the expected Korean release dates (June for the Lplayer but nothing mentioned for the SPINN ) but are there any ideas as to when the iRiver Store might be getting ahold of these players?

I have a hunch the spin on the Spinn is vaporware. Hopefully I am wrong on this.

I heard from a reliable source that P10, Lplayer, Volcano, N20, Mplayer3 are all possible release after June. btw, W7 has been released in Korea / China and got a lot of positive review.

The title said '120GB huge capacity, iriver P20's Korean certification completed, count down for market release'.

Any new electronic that are going to be released in Korea need to obtain a certification first (from an organization like FCC). I guess P20 won't be a vaporware than.

Looks like the Phototank is on her way!

Ooooh, I'd love ta get me grubby mitts on it...... Any translation of specs other than memory? I can make out a few things: DMB, Flash Lite, USB HOST, 480×272 AMOLED, an apparent 80GB version, support for MP3, WMA, OGG, AC3, MPEG1, MPEG4(SP/ASP), WMV7/8/9, XviD, H.264, M JPEG, etc.

Also add the follow the the list:
Multiple photo formats (including raw, it is the photo tank after all), 4.1 inches of touch screen (which rumor says this only applies to Korean version of P20, but can't be confirmed yet), 30FPS, video out, optional DMB receiver , multiple format ebook reader. another 120GB model too.

Of course Jeff will be ordering all when released including the LPlayer, P10 and P20... and hopefully, the SPINN!!!!

BBD, better get crackin' on that E100 review... new v1.06 firmware is available now as well. Adds Melon support and fixes a couple of bugs.

YES ! I knew they'd come through with support for the much anticipated "Melon" feature ! Fresh fruit popping out of a proprietary port has always been a dream feature of mine, to have on a DAP... Love it !

Any news on the Batista firmware update yet though ?

That is what it does, right ? BTW, speaking of reviews, I'll be out of town till Thursday, but have a good idea of where I'll be going (direction wise) w/review. I'm hoping that if you guys like it, Jeff will get his mitts on a Photo tank for me to review

Well, that kind of flies in the face of everything we've heard.
About the only 'evidence' that might support such a hunch is the fact that the SPINN hasn't been mentioned in any of the recent news/revised release dates that DF has posted over on DAPreview.

@jeff: if you can get the Lplayers for a decent price, I'm in.
Same goes for the SPINN, I think - that depends on what version(s) you'd stock.

Not to disappoint any of you up front, but you might want to take note that Lplayer, although seems to have spec closely resemble that of clix2, is not meant to be a replacement of the U series, but of the S series, therefore don't count on it to out perform clix2 (cause Lplayer is meant to target on the badget market, like E100).

I thought it was meant to fill the gap between the S10 and the Clix2?

Anyway, regardless, size is an important factor in the choice of my next DAP but I don't want to have to compromise too much to get something small, which is why I've never really been able to consider the S10 seriously - the capacity and battery life were too much of a joke.

It's too chunky for me.
And the battery life in the specs isn't really up to scratch.

So, with the SPINN delayed, possibly terminally, whilst this new Mintpass company tries to get going, that kind of rounds up iRiver's flash-based DAPs for now.
Shame.

Although the LPlayer looks like it was targeted to replace the old U series, I have to agree with clieos. With the 4gb version costing around $113, it's almost half the price of the Clix2. It does all the required tricks though: it plays video at 30fps, it plays audio, views texts and pictures too, but it doesn't look like it supports the flash UI.

I want to know what the hell is going on with iRiver's battery life lately?
The P10 runs for 7 hours playing just audio, and the LPlayer isn't much better as it dies after just 12 hours.

Come on iRiver! Cowon can make a D2 that runs for 50 hours, you guys have no excuse for this crap battery life.
