New iRiver "Super Player"?

Hey, I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, I didn't see it, so, here it is. I came across this on Gizmodo.com

There aren't many details on the iRiver teaser site, but from what we can make out, this "Life Unit" will have DVD, TV, PMP capabilities, WAN/LAN connectivity (Internet streaming?), slot loading CD/DVD inside an auto-sliding door, an SD slot and will act as an access point/charging station for other iRiver players.

In addition to that there's a 78-key QWERTY base unit controller that also controls the portable unit (which docks into the base unit, presumably). All this cockteasing is really annoying, iRiver. Let's have it already. – Jason Chen

And the new info release in the last couple of days it is turning out to be quite a(n) (awesome) monster.

For $600-$700, there's no way I'd pay for ONLY 30 gigs. They need to get real with their storage capacity> I mean archos even sees this for Christopher's sake ! I'm talkin' 80 gigs minimum.

Does it come with backpack straps so you can carry it with you? How big is this thing?

The detachable screen is 7" and the piece that does not detach is of a similar size.
It's not intended to be a portable player as such, it's a home entertainment product.

Check out the Engadget coverage video of CES 2007, it gives you a good indication of size.
No need to put on your back pack, the speakers and screen are detachable.

It should be around $528.81USD according to current exchange rates (from the 498000 won on the front page). That's $643.74AUD.

Probably an exaggeration, but it really does suit what I want.
Sit it in my room and there ya go.

I understand it looks nice but that's a lot of money for a tiny screen and a 30GB HDD.

For that price now, you can start to get 32" LCD TVs, connect that up to your computer and you've got a much better home entertainment set-up than this thing.
