Wow it's been a long time since i've posted in the misticriver forums. Today i ordered myself a clix2 from theiriverstore.com (came to a total of AUD$279 incl. postage). I've been an iriver user for a while now with my U10 serving its purpose. Never was too much of a fan of the Clix/U10 back when the 1st generation was released.. simply because of its bulkiness.. but now that the 2nd gen is out and is a whole lot sleeker, slimmer and simply put.. sexier.. i decided i'd give it a go.. hopefully it doesn't take too long to get here, cos i've already put my e10 up for auction on ebay. anyways, i'll let you guys know when i receive it and give my views on it.gonna be using this baby with my bad boy sennheiser hd280 pro headphones ;D

I've been in contact with C.R.Kennedy & Co (the distributors of iriver in Australia), and the clix2 WILL NOT be released in Australia.
This is what i received in an email from C.R.Kennedy:

The CLIX 2 will NOT be launched in Australia.

Instead we have gone with what we feel is a superior unit in the X20 (2GB, 4GB and 8GB).

I trialed both units extensively and the X20 was in my opinion far superior.

Such a shame!
So now I think i'm going to have to purchase it through the Iriver store
But the postage of $50 is a bit too much!

Thanks, but we've known this for a while.

Funny that, the one they were given just happens to be the superior product...

Shame Iriver decided not to release anymore Jukebox units like the H300 series.

They had so much potential.

Anyway...yeah they won't send Clix2, you won't be hearing much complaining from me. I need far more space then 8GB, and besides if I want multimedia I've got my PSP

If I had a dollar for everyone who said that (and right they probably are), I'd be able to develop the line personally.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why do all of you think the clix2 is superior to the x20?

Better screen (AMOLED), better navigation system (D-click), better firmware (internal switchable MTP/UMS, TXT reader, Flash games, PodcastReady, Audible, Music services including Rhapsody, Urge, etc), better sound quality, loader output (17mW vs. 13mW), better overall design (clean line vs. button), less weight (55g vs. 71g), Smaller size (80.3 x 46.8 x 12.8 mm vs. 98.5 x 49.0 x21 14.8mm), more EQ. (13 vs. 5), SRS WOW HD support, more accessories (cases, cradle, lanyard headphone, etc).

What X20 has the upper hand: Removal battery (not easy to find and not a main concern for clix2 user since The iriver Store can replace it), SD slot (allow more memory but sucks the battery life out), direct recording (not the most popular feature), external speaker (again, not the best of feature, Samsung does a better job on their K5)

I think that the clix 2 looks much better, has a more user friendly button layout (ie; the D-Click) and the AMOLED screen makes pics and videos look fantastic.

I've got no use for expandable memory or a removable battery.

So thats why i prefer the clix 2.

yeh, the x20, tho not as many features, has a external speaker which i would use a lot. Its cheaper too. So i got the x20 instead (though i did not know it was available online)

Well after my brother "stole" my H340 off me and gave me his PMC-120 (which I just sold) I'm deciding to get a Clix 2. It's a shame that it's not sold here in Australia. Does the Clix 2 have a line out jack (like the H3XX and PMC-120 had) or is it just a headphone port??

I'm going to purchase my Clix through iriverstore.com it's going to be AUD$325 for the 4gb that includes shipping and the cradle..but i might patiently wait a week or so for the 8gb

No line out, just the headphone jack.

Mattman - thanks for that info - from the screenshots it looked like it didn't have a line out but still I'm not fussy about the clix2 not having one - though it would be nice.

the question for me is now...should i buy or wait for 8gb

The question should be, will you need the 8gb?

Sorry for late reply but when will the 8GB Clix be available in the store, or is it already there?

It has been released on Korea yesterday, and I believe it will take a week or two to get to U.S. if there is no problem.
