Zen Stone

I got the S10 in the other day and was comparing the size the the ZEN Stone. The S10 is smaller and lighter.
However, the stone is awesome. Light and cheap as hell.
Sound quality is great and navigation is simple and intuitive.

$38 @ Wally world.

I may not be able to resist..... But do you have to synch it, or is it true drag-n-drop?

Hey, I was just talkin to you!

It is true drag and drop. Can be a "readyboost" drive for Vista as well.

Don't resist, trust me. if you workout with it you will love it.
Best of all it aint an ipod!

That counts me out then

It does look sufficiently small for the school-day though. I've been slowly downsizing with my DAPs as I realise I don't need my whole music collection everywhere I go, and its actually easier just to have something small which you can slip in a pocket and take wherever. Something like this might be my next downsize from my clix

Dont get me wrong, it is great for working out, but I have been using it in lots of other situations as well.

It suffers from ipod shuffle syndrome though...

At least its at a more reasonable price than the shuffle, and appears to have some better features.

Do you mean because it's screenless or it has a "shuffle" bug the way the H300's did at first?

Yeah, cuz that was about as clear as a screenless DAP....

(OK, OK...not my best effort, but whatta ya gonna do...? Only had a few sips of coffee this morning....

Still, it looks much more sophisticated and polished than the iShittle.

Yeah, I'm def goona opt for one---£20 from US with friend--cannot go wrong.

I'm not gonna even begin to compare it to other players, as for some reason, I always get pounced upon.

I can use it in the gym to further enhance my appendage muscleature, which are already almighty, so I can go around squeezing more daps and crushing ipods

I just had a look at one in the plasticky-flesh at the evil Wal-Mart.... A bit bigger than I thought it would be, but the kickers were 10 hour advertised battery life and only mp3 and WMA (or was it WAV...? W/E). Very basic, though it looks far more sophisticated. HOWEVER, the reported sound Q would still seem to make this an excellent choice as a workout or school player.

Got to be the Stone - the Shuffle's aluminium and the S10 doesn't fit the 'very basic' description.

I have been bringing my Stone with me for my exercises and I don't even feel as if I am carrying something. It's so light and cheap. Great player to accompany me for my running! The mode switch allowed me to switch between folders conveniently even though the player does not have a screen. Fallen in love with a STONE

The Zen Stone sounds interesting... I wouldn't mind a cheapie flash player for when I'm exercising. It must have somwhat decent SQ and drag-and-drop.

It *might* be coincidental, but the Zen Stone is meant to retail for AU$89.95... and the iShittle is being marked down to AU$99.95 in some shops.

Not again...

I was merely reusing BBD's nickname for it (did you read post #9 above?).

Do I have any interest in AnythingButiPod? No.
Am I anti-iPod? No.

My only beef is with the iTunes software... from past experiences, I've simply never gelled with it. Hence why the drag-and-drop of the Zen Stone appeals to me.

Not again?
I'm sorry I don't like fanboys.

And, yes, I had read BBD's post, but I wasn't around when he said it, so pointing it out was a waste of time.

"Not again..." regarding the ping pong going on in threads.

And why am I suddenly a fanboy?

I've honestly never cared about "brand X vs brand Y", even with the whole Mac/PC thing. Everything will have its pros and cons... go for whatever suits you best IMHO.
