MicroPhoto

Well folks, my beloved h340 finally packed in about a month ago. I decided I needed something smaller and less expensive for teenage life.

The less expensive part came after swiping a great deal on ebay for a barely used discontinued model; the Zen MicroPhoto, 8GB, White.

At the moment, I'm finding it quite yummy. Though not as yummy in some aspects as my Rockboxed iriver was..

- Playlists aren't so great. I was a bigbigbig fan of 'Queue next' and this baby doesn't support queueing.
- You cant change text colour very well; there are 8 set themes, so wallpapers are limited in what will show up.
- Has to view by tags, I preferred the folder system.

Plus you can't listen to music and look at pics at the same time, which doesnt bother me in the slightest tho.

Still, I am a very happy person. Apart from those things, it does everything I need well so far. Hopefully it'll outlive the h340 also

-Ish

It's sad to hear your H340 gave in but good that you're happy with the replacement.

Out of interest (I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go searching...) is it HDD- or flash-based?
And would you say the sound quality is as good as the H340 was?

It is HD based - I would have preferred a flah based but I didn't really want the Nano, and the cheaper option was very important to me.

In terms of sound quality-
The Zen Micro is said to have an absolutely awful bass, and Creative tried to address this in the MicroPhoto by adding a bass boost. Still, it ain't no H300.
The sound quality is by no means bad, and my 128kps MP3s sound pretty good to me. The bass is still slightly lacking with the Boost, but there are no other major problems, it's just not quite as pretty a sound as the H300.
And of course, no OGG support so I had to do a lot of reripping.

Oh dear I'm making my poor player sound very bad... hehe . It's not, I promise!

Well, to be fair, it doesn't matter what I think so long as you like it (plus I've got a Nano ).

Well, I wanted a flash player with decent battery life and the Nano was the cheapest option that suited me.
