zen v plus sound help?

i just returned my iriver clix for a zen v plus. bad idea . the reason i igot the zen v plus was that i wanted more memory. what i noticed when i first listened to it was the the sound sux donky butt. i loved the bass the clix had. i mostly listen to hard techno and rap so the bass is really imprtant to me. the zen v plus has madsucky bass. i dont kno if dis is becuss of the earbuds or the player itself. my question is if i got better earbuds like the vmod bass freq would it help? or should i just exchange it for the clix?

Thread moved.
A earbud with better bass respond will help, but it will only get as good as its source (ZV+) can output, and ZV+ will never sound as good as clix.

First, clix has a fuller body of sound compare to ZV+ even with out EQing.

Second, Clix has SRS WOW (among others) which is able to enhance the high/mid/low range and soundstage without felling 'over-EQing'. The only similar setting I can get from ZV+ is using 'POP'. But using POP setting will actually lower the bass, so I have to use it with Bass Enhance. Even with this combination, it still doesn't sound as good.

So, what you're saying is that you personally don't think the Zen V+ sounds as good.
That's very different from saying that it is incapable of sounding as good, as your opinion is purely subjective.

I'm not trying to argue, it's just that the way you said what you did came across as though there was some reason why the Zen V+ didn't sound as good (crappy hardware or something), as opposed to it merely being an opinion.

Also, on a separate point, SRS WOW isn't necessarily a good thing. Most people, even if they like bass in their music seem to be of the opinion that SRS WOW detracts from the overall sound quality, that songs aren't as clear when they use it.
At least, that's what I've picked up from people round here.

It isn't just me who think clix sounds better than ZV+. Search around many review sites that compare the two players and you will notice almost every reviewer prefers the sound of clix over ZV+. In my personal account, anyone who try my clix and ZV+ prefers the sound quality of clix too.

I read an article somewhere where it discusses the hardware (sound decoding chip) of clix is actually one of the best chips currently in the market. The same chip has been used in other hi-end electronics and various DAPs that have been known for their sound quality.

Of course, beside the chip used, sound quality is still mainly a very subjective topic.

Which is why not all reviewers agree that the Clix is better.

To be honest, I tend not to trust reviews too much - especially not when it comes to sound quality. Sure, if a lot of people say the same thing, it's quite likely to be true but it's still no guarantee (if iPods have taught us just one thing, it's that the majority don't always get it right).
I try and test things myself (again, especially subjective matters like sound quality) - I tried a Nano in a shop a couple of times before buying one of my own.

I was just curious was all.
