PMP JPEG Problem
Hi,
does anyone know if or when iRiver is correcting the JPEG-Problem (only baseline coded Jpegs are viewable) ? One reason why i bought the PMP was because i wanted to review my pictures from my Canon EOS-300. At the moment it's not possible to do that because the Jpegs from the Canon are progessive coded. I would guess that this feature would be more important than beeing able to read a text file ? Any help in sight ? |

Like everything, no one knows what to expect, the lack of ogg, support for more video formats, and more besides all are on the PMPers wish list. Hang tight, they probably will deliver these features in the near future.

wow.. that sux..
I guess this will apply to me to? with a canon ixus 430? It wasnt a reason for my purchase.. but damn it would have been nice.. as long as I can use USBOTG with a card reader its ok.. for now. IRIVER AFTER THE NEW YEAR I WANT TO SEE SOME ACTION! now.. Jonathan Sasse 50 push ups.. and hire some MR people to be ur advisors! (Jonathan Sasse = iriver CEO) oh well...some day.. when i'm ceo......

Remember guys you can import the images into the PMP and then use your computer to make them viewable, USBOTG is designed to give flexabilty with cameras, mine takes around 75high res snaps and then its full thats using a 128Mb card and thats an 8th of a GIG 37Gb on the player thats like 75x8x37=22200 pictures at high res alone, then its in the vicinity of 250000 low res shots I think the batterys wouldnt last 1/250000th of that.
Yes my goodmans GDC camera works on the PMP and my polaroid one too which is great. |

well, chances are USBOTG won't work with your camera too.
You have to take a look at the compatibility list. But i think i never saw canon cameras on the list and it's definitely not working with my EOS 300D. I had to by SanDisk ImageMateCF (Cardreader) to get access to my pictures. It works although only with 1.1 USB speed (which is NOT very fast). I was a little bit disappointed after i discovered that a lot of promised features never made it to the product: - remote control - JPEG (only baseline encoding) - text-file reading (ok, it works with the new korean firmware) - Games - Movies (a lot of restrictions) - Ogg vorbis support I can only hope that iRiver is going to get busy during January to deliver a major firmware update. I do believe iRiver should have no right to call themselves multi filetype players.. (multi codec jukebox etc).. if these JPG's are not viewable. Its at the simplest level of media.. pictures!
