Purchased a PMP w/ Boot Failure screen

Just bought a PMP from ebay for $60aud ($55usd). Anyway, the seller said that everything looked ok except that it would not boot and came up with the "Boot Failure" screen.

I'm wondering whether I have just managed to steal a bargain (i.e. $60 for a working pmp!) or whether the hard drive is faulty. Does anyone know?

If you've been here long enough, you would know that I once had a PMP (and still own it), but I smashed the screen. Anyway, I pulled that apart today and took out the HDD, so basically if the HDD if shot I will attempt to do the quick switch.

However I'm thinking that the PMP might just have a software error, rather than a hdd one.

These are the pictures.

Does anyone know whether this screen could mean a faulty hdd? I'll probably have a test anyway, but It would help to know early so that I don't have to buy the popper screw drivers.

There are many "Boot Failure" threads... have you tried any of the fixes? If so, did they work? Which one(s)? etc...

Here's one if you haven't:

I just wanted to ask about this PMP SQ. I'm using my H320 as second player and I was thinking about trading it for PMP and it's bigger screen, but I don't know if it's worth it. Sometimes they appear on ebay in quite fair prices.

hey guys.

Just got the PMP in the mail and everything seems to be as described. However I am having a bit of an issue trying to connect it up to the computer which sucks. Basically its not installing the necessary drivers. .

I'm going to keep trying and see if I can make it work on another computer, if not I might have to switch hard drives.

Ok.. so basically I'm totally lost.

I tried to switch from the current hdd to the hdd that I had from my old PMP-140. Anyway, I followed the instructions, put it all back together and it turned on fine.

However, now the red light keep blinking and it still says "boot failure". Still won't load up on my computer and I also hear a beeping noise every two seconds or so.
