I've tried everything with my PMP, I still get "Boot Failure"

So I have every copy of the firmware as of now on my desktop. I've followed the instructions, formatted my disk FAT32, "unziped the iriversys directory from the zip files into the pmp-140 so that I now have the folder "iRiverSys" and thats it.

Lets say for example the "iRiverSys" folder I installed was for Firmware 2.04, when i boot my PMP-140 up I get the "Boot Failure" with the notation on the bottom "Firmware Ver 1.24" - No matter what version of the firmware I try to load I still get that very message. I cant get past this menu to update the firmware.

If I remember correctly, wasnt there a folder called "Root" on the pmp as well? Can somebody zip the Root Directory and the iRiverSys directory, and any other system files that ARE installed on the PMP and post them on the forum? or email it to mrbrian@gmail.com - I would appreciate it very much. if you could do this for version 1.24 that would be greatly appreciated.

Well I hope that I am not alone here. I've tried everything to get my PMP working again. I still regret not just leaving it alone in the first place!!

did you ever get your pmp sorted out?

I HAVE A IRIVER PMP140 AND I RECENTLY UPDATED THE FIRMWARE FROM THEIR WEBSITE. AFTER DOING THIS MY PLAYER STARTED TO DISPLAY THE ERROR MESSAGE "BOOT FAILURE".
IT STATES THAT THE SYSTEM FILE HAS AN ERROR. I HAVE TRIED NEARLY EVERYTHING TO SORT IT OUT, FORMATTED IT IN FAT32, DOWNLOADED NEW FIRMWARE FROM THE US WEBSITE AS THE UK SUPPORT WEBSITE IS RUBBISH, TRIED EVERY COMBINATION OF DRIVER SOFTWARE I COULD FIND AND ITS STILL NO USE TO ME.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. I AM AFTER SOMESORT OF MASTER RESET SEQUENCE (I HAVE TRIED THE RESET BUTTON ON THE BOTTOM) OR SOME SOFTWARE THAT I CAN LOAD ONTO IT SO IT WILL WORK.
CHEERS
ANDY

P.S. THE FIRMWARE VERSION THAT IS BEING DISTPLAYED IS VER 2.04

I HAVE TRIED THE SOULOUTION BY SHAMROCK MAN BUT IT DIDNT WORK.

PLEASE CAN YOU HELP..

ANDY

Boot Failure Fix: Pmp 120

1st go to Ihttp://www.shamrockman.net/ and dload the version you want to run. My PMP shows 1.23 but I couldn't find that version so I now run 1.24.. Save the dloads in a new folder on your computer.. There should be (7) items that dload to your computer.

*** I have found that just copying the files to your PMP Player will NOT work.***

I had to delete ALL (7) of the system files and folders.
1.) BMP folder
2.) etc folder
3.) system file
4.) (4) "Version-[0x..... " files..

So there were (7) items I had to delete. Once deleted go to the folder you saved the dloads to. I had to click and drag each item to the drive your PMP player is connected to. Once all (7) items have been placed on your PMP player disconnect it, turn off the power, wait a minute and turn it back on. These steps worked PERFECTLY for me. Please let me know in this forum if this helps..

Thanks..
