Wrong voltage damage to PMP-140 (Help please).

In preparation for the 7-8 hour car rides at the start and end of my vacation this past week, I purchased an FM transmitter and universal power adapter to use with my PMP-140 in my car during the drive. Everything was working fine and dandy with it the night I bought it and first tried it out, however, as my luck would have it, the next morning at the start of my trip I accidentally hit the voltage switch on the adapter while moving it and moved it to a setting higher than what the PMP-140 accepts, quickly killing it.

If anyone can help me, I need to know the exact extent of the damage this has done, what needs to be repaired or replaced, and how or where I could have these repairs done. It'll really kill me if one badly timed slip of the finger has permanently ruined one of my most cherished possessions.

I'm assuming that you have entirely damaged your pmp. If you want to know what is left to operate then try using the power adapter that came along with your pmp. If it powers on and loads up completely then only the battery is damaged. If the LCD screen powers on and gives you an error then the motherboard is still functioning and both the harddrive and the battery are ruined. If it doesn't power on at all then there is nothing you can do. :\

After plugging it in to the wall charger that came with it, it does turn on, and gets a boot error when attempting to load the system. If this means that the hard drive is shot, does anyone know where I can readily get a compatible replacement hard drive?

eBay. MK4004GAH for a 40GB and a MK6006GAH for a 60gb. You will spend about 60 dollars on the 40 and close to a hundred dollars on the 60. And you will have to replace the hdd on your own which is a pain in the ass with the pmp.

I'd just buy a new media player. The Archos 504 is cheap and is very impressive. I saw the 40gb version of it sold for 200 bucks on woot which was a one day deal but i'm sure it will come back again.
