firmware/ emilyandlily / problems / questions

Hi,

I've got so many questions here I'm not sure where to start!

I bought a PMP 140 from emilyandlily, stupidly hadn't read the bad reviews, didn't realise it was refurbished, and didn't include a remote...still too late for that now.

Problems so far - it is very slow when calling up all the folders that I've copied into the audio folder. Each time you open that it takes up to 30 seconds to open. I'm used to my old iHP 140 where you could click out of one folder back through the main list and back into another in a matter of seconds. Ids it normal that it's so slow? Sometimes it seems to freeze altogether.

i thought maybe that adding it all to the DB would help, but when I right click on the highlighted files (as it says in the manual) no option for DB comes up.

i thought that I should try and upgrade the firmware, but endless following of the links on this site, and on iRiver, haven't come up with anything.

Some of you say you got it from the korean site, but how are you supposed to do that when the site's in Korean?

Sorry if I'm being thick, I'm worried as I have to go back to Spain in a few days, and I don't know whether I've got something genuinely faulty, that I need to chase up e and l about, or whether I'm not doing things correctly.

Also a lot of the files I copied across have glitches in them, and a variety of mpg files won't play, though some will!

I was really looking forwards to having this machine, and I thought it'd all be so simple like the iHP was...if only I hadn't spilt a bottle of water on it!

Thanks

hey man,

i just upgraded my firmware yesterday with Shamrockman's instructions. Yes, it's in Korean, but if you follow the instructions he gives- it will boot back up in english.

http://www.shamrockman.net/ and click on Korean Firmware Guide. His site is a great reference to get PMP stuff working.

thanks, I'll have another look, but when I went to the site I clicked on what looked like the file to download, and then it went to a form to fill in, which of course I couldn't understand, so I couldn't get beyond it.

iS the firmware upgrade supposed to solve problems of speed and freezing?
