So U asking how to transfer your dvds into your PMC...
There are other threads in the forum that cover this but for a quick tip use pocket divx encoder (ITS FREE!!! ). With this U will be able to convert the .vob files into divx and manipulate the files as U wish (separate diferent episodes or put all episodes together into one file, etc.)
after that just convert into WMV or just sync in with your WMP.

Good Luck

I again recomend to just use the pocket divx encoder. Has worked with me fine with no glitches at all.

Good luck again.

Dude use 'Imtoo dvd ripper platinum 4'. It is shareware(gimme ur email id if u want the keygen ) and it does rip all the titles into a single media file.

Or you could try xilisoft 3 but i find that both of them are damn slow. I use winavi 5.8 for superb results, encoding a whole movie takes 20 mins tops.

And about the rewind/ff i have the same problems with imtoo and xilisoft, but winavi 5.8 does not have it!!
I can ff/rew with winavi output.
Strange...

If you're going to be converting through avi anyways, you could use iriverter to convert the VOB files to avi. As far as what files are what, you could look at the title duration. Or for more specific info, your DVD player ought to be able to tell you what title/chapter you are on for any particular thing. (Good if what you want to convert is one of the extras.)

Why do conversion twice???
That's whay i gave up iriverter and wmencoder as a bad job...

Convert .vob directly into wmv with xilisoft/imtoo/winavi and copy-paste/sync into the pmc!!!

rayyan1234, imtoo dvd ripper platinum cuts all the chapters with the same two parameters into a single media file.

like for eg if its vts_01_1 and vts_01_2 then they both are merged...

And with imtoo, are you able to ff/rewind??? I'm not

i was able to fast forward but the burning took long.i think win avi is faster...i think. but yea...now i m looking for a dvd merger and splitter beacuase i have a dvd that is 2 disk so the movie requires the second disk.i ripped both cds with win avi and converted them to wma.and now i am using windows movie maker to merge them.but it is taking too long.it will take three hours.then agn the movie is 1.3 gb together.after that i m going sync it and put it in my pmc which is going to take 1 hour. even thou my file is wma, i need to sync it because the specs arnt ritebut still atleat i will be able to watch it after syncin it.this process is going to take me like 8 hours

Is it wma or wmv???
Did you rip the dvd's onto your hard drive?? Why did you have to do that, just convert the files directly from the dvd... It should take around 20mins for one hour of video...
Incidentally, which profile are you using for winavi? You are supposed to use the NTSC 700kbps profile and it syncs directly without conversion to the pmc...
Just tell me the comparitive quality between xilisoft and winavi 700kbps profile...

I Repeat; if u use the broadband ntsc profile in winavi, wmp will not reconvert the file!!! Takes 20 secs to transfer a 500mb movie!!!

i ripped my dvd to the hard drive because it was enscripted which i dont think win avi does.THEN i converted to WMV.and as for the profile i didnt really didnt really know any thing about it before so i just used the WMV8 DVD QUALITY ENCODER.because the movie is 3 and a half hours and i didnt want to mess with such a big file.because i was scared if a use some other profile what if it spends 4 hours converting and whn it converts it dosnt forward or rewind!. i was using winavi 7.6 and i think win avi and xilisoft are the same quality...and about the thing u said "You are supposed to use the NTSC 700kbps profile and it syncs directly without conversion to the pmc..." do u mean to select my output folder as my pmc vedio folder? or do after it convertes it sync it at it wont reconvert through windows media player?

p.s i have wm 11

If you use the 700kbps broadband profile, there's no need for reconversion... That's what i meant.
