PMP Camera Question

Am thinking about getting a PMP-120 (since I can't find any PMP-140s) and was wondering if a camera that doesn't need special drivers under Linux (it uses the usb-storage kernel module) would work with the PMP-120?

Or another way of asking this is: Does the PMP's kernel use a standard USB-storage module? I know my camera works with the old kernel the PS2 Linux Kit comes with. (A 2.2 series kernel.) But (for reasons beyond my understanding) Windows won't accept it without a driver. The 2.4 kernel on my dual-boot laptop also works fine with it.

A card reader solution wouldn't help me at the moment since I don't have any cards for my camera. (It's an old cheap Concord camera that takes MMC but not SD.)

It's not all that big a thing, but it would be convenient to be able to dump the files onto the PMP and take more pictures.

Had another question to ask (about a USB harddrive) but managed to find out info about that which leads me to think mine ought to work, at least with the updated firmware.

You can buy a brand new one on ebay. And it seems the seller is a trusted one with good reviews. Hurry it seems he only has 3 units left.

Actually those are refurbished, but that's not a problem. The price is more then I can afford at the moment and by the time I could afford it they'll probably all be sold.

Edit: Found another one on Ebay (used) that I might bid on. Odd coincidence that they're popping up on Ebay now though. Weren't any 140s on Ebay last time I checked.

Was outbid on the 140 that I bid on, and don't have the cash to go higher, so I I'll probably end up getting a refurbished 120 through Amazon. (I'm trying to keep under $200.)

Meanwhile, I took at look at the kernel source for the PMP and it seems to use the usb-storage module version 1.2. Since the one on my PS2Linux kit is older, I'm thinking it's likely my camera will work. Though that's a rather minor thing. With any luck, a bunch of my video files will work without conversion too. (I've got a few gigs of Anime Music Videos I tend to watch while killing time out of town. Which at present means lugging around my laptop and USB harddrive.)

As an interesting sidenote, the PMP may be able to access a Sony Clie's (PDA) memory stick if the Clie is running MS Import. (There's an entry for PEG Mass Storage in the kernel source.) As well as USB CD drives and who knows what else. Has anyone tried old Sony cameras like the Cybershot series? There is an entry for DSC-S30/S70/S75/505V/F505/F707 cameras.

i bought mine on ebay, pmp-120 couple of months ago, and you can upgrade the hard disk, people have done it, and posted it here
