my pc wont pick up my pmc 120

hello,

i just bought a pmc 120.. i installed the cd.. plugged in the usb cable.. and i get the error message cannot detect portable audio device..

i plug the same cable into my laptop.. and it reads it and i am able to transfer music over..

has anyone had a similar problem or no how to fix mine?
