Can I put a 40 gig hd (from an H340) into a pmp 120?
Hi
Just wanted to know if I can put a hard drive from an H340 iriver, which I think is a dual platter drive into a PMP 120? I haven't bought the PMP 120 yet and have been on the forum reading the pros and cons of the pmp 120. I can barely find the pmp 120 in the US, so forget about the PMP-140. |

I'm not sure if you will be able to put it back together, as I'm assuming the PMP-120 uses a single platter Toshiba drive, which is 3mm thinner than the 40gig drives.

Yup, the H340 has a Toshiba drive. I believe its a dual platter drive.
I'm sooo looking forward to getting the PMP-120, read a lot of good things on the forum about it. Even downloaded the manual like some people suggested so I can get a jump on it. I'm still looking for a site to buy it at a decent price, staying away from Ebay. My main concern is, will the 40gig drive fit and be recognized by the unit? Can I leave my current file stucture intact or will I have to reformat? Also about the formatting, I see that there are a lot of threads about it. I've bookmarked Shamrockman's page. I'm open to any and all suggestions. |

The Toshiba 30Gb and soon to be released 40Gb single platter drives will definitely fit physically, and should be recognised by the player with no problems, but I'm not a PMP owner and couldn't say for sure.

You may need to trim the hdd's padding to accomodate the larger drive...

on the 1xxs and 3xxs it's a few millimeters (no idea about the PMP line). I'd guess about 4 or 5mm.
