Hi,
Today i tried to delete my own skin, which i made with the Shamrock prog. So I've connected my PMP to the PC and transfer the standard files. After I've rebooted the device, it comes a strangely picture, it seems to be like a command line in pixels. I also tried to transfer the Sys files to the PMP, but he doesn't connect to the PC so i can't transfer any files to it. Sorry for my English mistakes. ^^ PLEASE HELP ME |

I haven't screw the PMP up. Before the accident i tried to put some images by shamrockImage to the PMP but the PMP couldn't show it, I don't know why. So i want transfer the standard pics from my PC to the PMP also by ShamrockImage. After i transfered them the PMP can't boot anymore. If i connect before booting up the PMP, it's still the same. What can I do? Should I screw the PMP up take the HDD out. and connect by IDE with my computer to install the System again?

Hi ... after a long time i've received a new DAP (Zen Vision:M) and my USB 1,8" HDD Case. Yesterday I connected the HDD of my destroyed PMP to the computer it works perfect. So I need now only the whole Sys Folder again, when i copy the Sysfolder of the firmware 2.04 to my PMP-HDD, should it boot normally after that? Or could i get another Sys Folder?

I want...nay, *need* to share this with the PMP community out there. iRiver support is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. They would rather focus on the problem and practice the art of misdirection to mask their incompetence than help you find a solution.
I have been plagued with problems with my PMP-140, and at the end of my frayed rope, I decided to heed the advice of some very happy people on many iRiver forums that stand behind upgrading firmware to the latest 2.03 or 2.04 that can be found on the Korean site. I upgraded my firmware, hoping that what they said about it fixing the majority of Boot Failure issues. Everything went great until it came time to restart the player. Now, instead of freezing on the BOOT FAILURE screen, it froze on LOADING SYSTEM.. Not....good... Because as you know, it needs to get past this point to even connect to the computer. SO, all of my music, all of my recordings, all of my photos, all of my video, had been lost. After contacting technical support, I was left with the option of sending my player back (still under warranty) for replacement. Lost data be damned, they said. I was not willing to do this, however. SO, here is how I solved the problem; when the front door is stuck, sneak around back. I decided to try something that might get the device connected to the computer. I let the device begin its load process, and when the LOADING SYSTEM words came up, I removed the battery. This effectively scrambled the firmware, and I was able to get back to the BOOT FAILURE screen, WHICH, as anyone who has experienced this problem knows, WILL allow you to connect to your computer to get your precious files back. I hate iRiver support. So I kicked their collective %$#es. Someday, you can too. |
