PMP power supply help

Hi Guys

I am a real newbe here. I just bought a PMP-140 on ebay from the good old USA. However I am from Australia which may lead me to some problems. You guys have 110 volt power outlets whereas we have 240 volt.

I know the pin set up on the outlet will be different, but what about the voltage, does the US power supply take both 110 and 240 or only 110

Can't you buy an inverter? I know when i went on vacation to europe i bought one so there would'nt be a problem charging my rechargables. Also not much of an electrical specialist, so this is mere speculation, but i don't believe it's 240 compatable.

i pretty much know that i will have to do something about getting a new mains charger (a guy from here tells me that the US chargers are pretty dodgy)

i have worked out that you can charge via the usb cable, is it as quick and does it work as well etc?

Nah, USB is SLOW at charging plus you annot have it on whilst charging. Also when you transfer stuff onto your PMP, the battery will go from 4 bars down to 1 bar, the mains is a much better solution.

I have a USA PMP with the USA plug, I bought a plug converter and it works great, no problems at all! Only 2 pounds from the local market, lol.

I have a 140 EU model, it is 110 - 240
mate has a 120 US model it is also 110 - 240

All you need is a converter so the plug can fit in your sockets.

Will add this one to the quick fire guide.

I bought a UK plug converter for my American PMP adapter. The fuse in the converter went pretty quick, but when I took the fuse out, it looked like a cheap one lol...replaced with a high quality one now :P hahaha

There is no problem. I use my US bought PMP in Europe and it charges great.

Most hard drive devices can be used all over the world.

thanks guys

you have saved me $35 (AUD),

buy the way i picked up the unit on ebay for $530 (AUD) inc shipping to aus.

genuine 140's are getting rare on ebay, there seem to be a heap of scammers in china trying to sell them on ebay

still plenty of 120's though
