Wolfport2001, iRiver did release the source to it. They however did not include the scripts needed to assemble a update file
Well is there any reason why we can't get that?

Hey people.... Im pretty good (intermediate) at programing hardware (and stuff of the sort) and have done about two projects using (C#, C.++, and java).. but dont really understand Linux that well. I've owned a PMP-120 for about a year now, and would love to enhance it... im just getting into linux and am trying out Live CDs and Bootables on my other hard drive... but could use some help on understanding how the PMP uses Linux, and accessing the files code.

[ good people have mirrored my work :p ]

If you want to continue the work :
www.sixxs.net/archive/pimp/

If some .txt of work are missing from "team work", I still have them somewhere. Let me know if you are interested (pmp.breaker _at_ gmail.com).

The last state is that we don't know how to build the firmware image which suits to the upgrade function of the pimp !..

Enjoy

Firstly, thanks ShamrockMan, after letting my son use my PMP-120 for a day, he got the boot failure. I used your site to fix it, and it's back up and running. The same can't be said for the two iRiver H10 20gb MP3 players they have, though. And those were just returned from iRiver around 3 months ago for the *same exact problem*. Anyway, that's a bit off-topic...

Too bad there's no further PMP-120 opensource firmware work going on, but then again, the PMP-120 with firmware v2.04 does everything I want it to, which is play videos. So, good enough for me.

It's on the CD that came with the PMP. I believe it's called Iriver media converter.
