@ Astec
Did you send the petition to iRiver? Might be a good idea to send it now since they take time to read their emails ( IRIVER customer support ). I don't think we will be getting many more signatures in the close future anyways, unless we find a good way to advertise it to PMP owners (not sure how...).

I will sort that at the weekend, in the mean time come on people we need more sigs, the more the better, friends, family, your dog, anyone that can access a computer should be signing it, the more we get the better. I cant really go to them and say, we have X names, I want to go and say we have XXX names!

I just emailed them asking for the source code, but I doubt I will get a reply.
If I dont get a timely reply, we should email them the petition. The source prob. would save me a man-month in labor, and $500 for a JTAG or BDM. |

I agree Shamrockman. I will make another thread of things that we need to say, I will get people to post proposed messages as in the content to a thread later and see what happens. Will have to pick the best one and that way we get what we want said.

Mell, they might cave in if me email them, call and mail them (registered of course) so they have no excuse that we did not contact them.

I have spoken to them (after 2 hours on hold) They say (in the USA)
- FM recording in the manual is printing error. - OGG support on iRiveramerica.com help is a typo. - Any other websites outside of the USA and Canada making any claims they are not responsible for. - WMA problems - have suggested some solutions. - Laughed when i mentioned releasing the code so we could solve these problems. - Laughed when i said that lots of people are very unhappy. (100,000's are happy) They will not repair the player as there is no malfunction. They will not replace the player as there is no malfunction. They will not refund me the money as they do not have my money - BestBuy do. (Fair enough but i dont anticipate that happening either) If anybody would like contact details (email or telephone - direct to Customer Service manager) I will happily provide them or post them here. My advice to anybody who is thinking of buying one of these is DO NOT. If you feel you must, make sure you get an extended warranty as iRiver customer service SUCKS. I will be persuing me claim through the courts. It will take awhile but i will post any happenings here.

I did mention linux and the release of the code and he said he could not do anything that is not his descision but if we I or we all write an email to him he would put it in his monthly report and forward them on to the correct people.
He also said that as FM recording was never advertised as OGG wasnt they did not influence my purchasing decision so could not be construed as false advertising. I think you may have more luck in Europe as many of the sites that advertise falsely are in the UK. How do i post my screenshot? This is the text: iriver Tell me about your problem or ask me a question. Guest PMP does not play wma files properly iriver So far, you've told me that: You want support for a PMP or PMC multimedia player. The player is not working correctly. There are problems with the music files. There are problems playing WMA files. iriver The iriver PMP-100 Series players are multi-codec and support non-protected WMA, MP3, ASF, and OGG formats. When you have songs on your player that you can see, but cannot play, it generally means they are either: WMAs that have been copy protected, or Files in a non-compatible format such as AAC or RMJ For more information about protected WMA files click here. Click here to email this solution. iriver Was your question answered? Yes No

im new here only 14 years old just found this iriver forum, ipod hater and i own an pmp 120 and from australiai signed because my friends would be even more jealous of my iriver.

I have signed but i hate to say that it was either legally ruled or understood that online petitions have no actual authority because of the non possibility of tracking each individual signiture and the possibility of forgary. So iRiver does not have to actually acknowlege this as a legal document of any kind, sorry guys but keep trying if they did state it was a promised feature then they have to fulfill it.

yeah they do. everyone that signs gives thier email. good tracking.
im going to email iriver about this.
