Linux and the PiMP

Does anyone know of any packages or distros that will get Linux to recognise the PiMP?

Hmm, the PiMP appears as a UMS device same as the H100/H300's correct? If so, then virtually any recent linux distro will be able to handle it, as long as it has hotplug support. Good candidates include Mandrake (know this one works, I'm using it now ), Fedora and Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Linux Distro

It appears that I was being a little bit premature. Ubuntu did work with the PiMP. Admittedly, the hotplugging doesn't always kick-off as it should (it is the same with OSX), but it opens up eventually with a bit of TLC or a good hard reboot.

not auto on fedora

My pmp mounted automatically on a Ubuntu system, but did not on my Fedora system. The pmp was automatically detected as a usb device, but I had to mount it manually. The command I use is "mount /dev/sda1 /media/pmp". Does anyone what entry I should put in /etc/fstab to make the mount happen automatically? I tried copying the entry for the cdrom, but it doesn't work.

Thanks!

Another guy of their staff pointed out to me that there might be a case of getting iRiver to open up the Linux version + tools they are using by reporting it to the FSF.

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-violation.html states:

If you think you see a violation of the GPL (or the LGPL, or the GFDL) the first thing you should do is double-check the facts:
* Does the distribution contain a copy of the License?
* Does it clearly state which software is covered by the License? Does it say anything misleading, perhaps giving the impression that something is covered by the License when in fact it is not?
* Is source code included in the distribution?
* Is a written offer for source code included with a distribution of just binaries?
* Is the available source code complete, or is it designed for linking in other non-free modules?
------------------>8
There is no license, it does not state what is included in it, there is no source code, you can not get the source code from iRiver..... but still it uses Linux....
