What is the RPM on the PMP140?
It feels a litle fragile to use as an external hard-drive doesnt it?
Like as if it would burn up or something :P Anyway, how fast is the hd? not 7200 rpm right? peace |

I think most Laptop HDD (which is what the Drive is) run at 5400 rpm. The HDD speed is inconsequential really, as it is more than adequate to transfer at USB 2.0 rates (480Mb/s). A faster drive would probably just chew the battery faster. The Duelist Last edited by The Duelist : February 24th, 2005 at 11:36 PM. |

I don't really know for sure, but I would say these portables probably run between 4200 and 5400 RPM. Like The Duelist said, faster would just chew up the batteries. With the USB 2.0, it really would be impractical to have a higher RPM. Remember also that the smaller discs are more compressed and the lasers are more precise, so a 4200RPM 1.8" drive may write 1GB of data faster then say a standard CPU hard drive at 5400RPM.
