PCM, you know very well what I mean.
You would suck as an AA sponser....

80GB should be fine for me.... But have either of you (or anyone else for that matter) used some of the third party software that supposedly allows drag-n-drop without changing the firmware? It was suggested to me on another forum--Xplay? Can't recall the progs name, ATM....

EDIT: It's XPlay2. Linky: http://www.mediafour.com/products/xplay/

BBD, I've tried that, it sucks.
You're far better off just using iTunes.

Actually iTunes is not all that bad. I use it every time and have yet to experience any issues with it.

Have used it too and its not so bad, just make sure you switch to manual syncing, once you have loaded your music once

You can just drag your newly ripped cd into it, so thats almost drag and drop BBD?

That's going a bit far.

I've tried, as far as I know, every piece of third-party software for the iPod that claims to be 'drag and drop' and none of them are. Without RockBox, there is no way of getting drag and drop with a 'Pod.
However, that said, iTunes works. It may not be perfect/ideal but it works.

itunes works OK.

I loaded 47 gigs of music and 27 gigs of pictures on it last night relatively quickly and without incident.

It has a pleasant interface. It's nice scrolling through the album covers, and it does a decent job of redering pictures.

Still haven't had a chance to put it through much of a workout.

Please let us know if the audio has been improved. I am very close to buying one myself.

I second that! Some members of DAPreview are posting the sound Q is quite good, but the more the merrier.... Nest Wednesday or Thursday looks to be THE day for me...a bit sad and excited, both of which I find pathetic.... But I loves the gadgets....

It could be worse: I could be addicted to porn...waitaminute...poor example....

I could be an alcoholic...son of a....

OK: I could be a co-dependent, trans-gendered, heroin addict hooked on The View, lobotomized to the point I vote Republican in the upcoming. There...something worse than lusting after an iPod....

One other upshot/crippling blow: As many know, I'm a bit of an accessory whore and the support for these things can hardly be denied. My debit card is already whimpering....

And yet...that new Sansa....

I just got my 4GB nano today, and I have to say it does look really cool in person. Sound quality is pretty good so far, and I'll see about battery life once I've loaded some videos as well.

A number of iLounge members who bought the 160gb version have found the same issue, but the 80gb seems OK, though some complain of "sluggishness" and clipping when using the feature while listening to music.

That was a general impression of some initial reviews that I read, that the Classic's UI can be fairly slow.
Though, of course, you can turn of all album-art related stuff if you want, though that renders the whole 'coverflow' thing a bit pointless...

The discussions on iLounge remind me of the discussions here when iRiver went from the H100 to 300 series.... All the kvetching and whining about bugs, crashes, missing features, poor performance, countered by people saying they love the new one and haven't had any troubles at all. Just like here about 3-4 years ago when iRiver released their last serious HD DAP.

As to the "slow" UI, a lot of owners are saying it's doing goofy things only if they scroll through too fast (i.e. faster than the operator can actually see the covers). Going through at a moderate (not slow) pace is fine.

IMO Cover Flow is pointless. All I want is a DAP with long battery life, good sound quality and one that can hold a lot of music.

Hmmm, I will test drive this into the ground before I purchase one.

I played around with 160gb classic last night in store and it had no such issues, was tempted but resisted, its good to see the arrogance of the apple staff has not changed, and wanting a credit card surcharge, yeah ok then
That very arrogance and credit card surcharge turned me to the h340 in the first place so I guess it wasnt a bad thing

I had a chance to use mine for a couple of hours today and was very happy with it.

I scrolled through albums for awhile with no issues, looked at lots of pictures whilst listening to music - smooth.

The SQ is clean and crisp, perhaps a bit light on the low end but not bad. Mid range just a tad prominent, but not annoyingly so.

I kind of like the UI and all thestuff I did today didn't put a dent in the battery level meter.

So far so good, I really like the whopping 160g's of storage, and the aluminum case. The overall size is identical to my old 60g that I offed on Amazon for almost what I paid for it.

Oh btw, I also bought the 8g nano, but took it back before opening it. It looked a little too thin for my liking. I like my DAP's to have a little meat on their bones...LOL

I plan on buying the 16g touch when it is released.
