***The Definitive iPhone Thread***
I must admit, after seeing parts of the Keynote: iPhone is a real innovation, compared to the minor D-Clix idea.
16 hours playtime is not that much - and a price tag of $599 for an 8GB player limits the market somehow. No FM radio (where Zune offers RDS and where iriver does not even show station names that were edited the hard way in iriverplus, while DVB is not that interesting in this country). But a real innovative concept behind a 320 x 480 pixel 3.5" touchscreen makes me feel to ask for it, even as an MP3/video player without phone |

iPhone thread, all iPhone threads merged here.
well, the new iPhone is presented, and they're already j*rking off on www.gizmodo.com
i must say, the thing looks huge, it's way too expensive and i totally don't see what all the fuss is about. it's probably going to end up being crap like the rest of the ipod products (well, they're not crap, but are waaaay overrated). oh and i'm getting a headache from just imagining all of the little accessories that are going to get made for this thing (and of course, all the firms specialized just to make iPod/iPhone products). i bet it's gonna scratch like hell |

there is nothing NEW about a mobile phone that can play mp3, its soooo old hat, i'm amazed that it's touted as an amazing earth shaking development, poor apple zealots, going to pay a fortune for something that is given away by others...

Nothing extraordinary about that except for Apple's keen marketing dept. that will have everyone and their second cousin clamouring to own the phone.
Just buy any of the newer Sony Ericsson phones and you get the same and more really.

I think it'd probably be a damned good phone were it not for the price.
I'm a little interested in how this touch screen is supposed to work, how it 'ignores accidental touches', or whatever it's supposed to do. But, that's about it, I hardly think 'magical' is a balanced description. |

ahem, my point is that they are available AND they are upgradeable, which the apple phone isn't, with regards to memory capacity.

What is the back made of? The same metal (liquidmetal?) that the Sansas are using or just aluminum?

Email this to iriver about getting new firmware for the clix. They will probably take ideas for their new players too so it's better to tell them what needs to be improved before releasing a new player. |

A valid argument.
I would point out that a lot of people don't stick with the same phone for that long, though a memory card would be reusable in a way the memory in the iPhone wouldn't. With large memory cards, there's the possibility your phone may not support them (depending on the age of the phone), though by the time you can afford said memory card, you'll probably have a different (newer) phone anyway. |

i'm with step - cf cards rock. but this new phone seems interesting, but with the way people go through phones, it doesn't seem plausible, i don't think...
i wouldn't buy one. i don't want a phone/mp3 player/camera. i want a phone, and an mp3 player, and a camera. get me?

it probably will. it'll be interesting to see when the first of them start popping up.
