Well Steve, you've really put yourself in a league with yer ol buddy Bill this time... Anyway: I came to post that my friend who works for Apple is going to receive a new 8 gig iPhone next month I believe. He says that all Crapple employees who have been working for them a year or more get one. I think this is an act of desperation on apples part, since it's known that they've been notoriously cheap w/their employees in the past regarding giving away stuff. My friend got a shuffle from them, but it was supposedly a 'loaner', and would have to give back any stuff they gave him if he quit or got fired etc... And now, they're just giving iPhones away ? Pretty sneaky if you asked me. I'm sure Id take one if it were free, but pay for one, never. He says that they're selling a butt load of them, and I asked about returns, to which he replied: "None that I know of". Well, at least now he and I will be on the same network... hope he likes ATT/Cingular, since he'll have to use them for 5 years ![]()

Apple is planning to market a smaller sized iPhone roughly the size of the Nano, and at half the price of the current iPhone. I think this is what they should have done in the first place.
Better yet, what they should have done is drop the phone completely and market the new iPod. The interface is supposed to be much better than the current click wheel. Last edited by musichound : July 12th, 2007 at 09:16 AM. |

Back OT: Apple, after having gained some measure of respect from BBD for the latest gen 'pod, shall once again be referred to as "(cr)Apple."

Well, maybe. No-one knows really. JP Morgan had a change of heart - link. Then they decided Apple are probably working on a 'business iPhone' (link). Or maybe, like other people have theorised, they're just re-doing the standard one properly and adding 3G capabilities (link). Basically, no-one's got a clue, not that they're letting a minor point like that stop them from predicting everything under the sun... Oh, and BBD, I came across a new term for you to add to your vocabulary, a possible replacement for 'Apple fanboys' - 'Mactards'. |

To be fair you do have a point. If this was true we would hear it from Apple. Apple routinely does not announce any details until a product is released.

The battery procedure is what bothers me. they said the battery will last about 300 charges before you need to send it in for replacement. Not only is it expensive, it's inconvenient. If rumors are true I hope they make a replaceable battery for this new sleeker iphone, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Apparently (probably according to some Apple fanboy), the battery lasts longer than 300 charges.
But, either way, you're still paying. I got my Neonode yesterday. It's a lot of fun, if somewhat larger than I expected (not huge, just moderately chunky). It doesn't have a user-replaceable battery either but replacement is covered in the warranty. |

No one's ever gonna be able to make a touch screen phone ever again without it being put in the iPhone clone category...

Sadly, that's true.
However, in this case, it is an iPhone clone. Nokia admit 'with pride' that they've copied the iPhone. If you watch the video, the interface is clearly an attempt to mimic Apple's. It's an actual proper clone. Thing is, that's no bad thing. The one thing Apple do well is the interface. But, which phone has the best hardware on the market just now? Well, that's a little difficult to answer conclusively but it isn't the iPhone - however, the N95 is right up there.... So, just imagine, a phone with the iPhone's interface and the N95's features - it's perfect. |
