They are still under Fopp branding and seem to be pretty much the same as before that whole fiasco (just now owned by HMV). It's only the 10 most successful stores that have been reopened and from what I believe there used to be roughly 100 stores.

Yeah, I remember seeing that.
It says that the six they've bought were all profitable when Fopp closed. I've heard theories that they were either the six most profitable stores Fopp had, or the only six profitable stores they had... I must see which one it is they've re-opened in Edinburgh. It gotta be Rose street, it's much bigger than the one on Cockburn Street... |

Off T: What an unfortunately named street.... Might hafta go down Penicillin Way after a visit to the smaller store....
On T: If we have time today, I'm headed to Best Buy to check out the 605 and iPod classic GUI-to-GUI and attempt to claim my BB PSP for my po' H320....

605 is not in stock yet either.
You can buy it from others online though. Mine came on Thursday

I don't need the extra space but it would be real cool just to have 160GB free!
EDIT: Forget my last comment. Whuile it will be good to have all that wasted space, no one knows yet how the new classics sound and there is still probably no custom EQ. Besides, at lease Rockbox is available for the current 30 and 80GB models. This will be a very hard decision for me to make. Last edited by musichound : September 8th, 2007 at 11:31 AM. |

I think I'll go for the 6G 80GB. I don't really need 160GB, and it's even 3mm thinner than the 160GB. Worse battery life though

I think I can assist in the answer to the battery life. THe 6G 80GB offers up to 30 hours battery life, which is 6 hours more than a day. Do you intend to listen to your player continuously without giving it a break?

I know: 80GB = 30hrs, 160GB = 40hrs. Doesn't really make a difference I guess, but battery life decreasing will hit the 80GB hardest. And we all know that if specifications say 30 or 40 hours of battery life, it will actually be about 20 or 30 hours with regular use.

Then you'll likely never get another mp3 player of any kind....
I went to BB yesterday and was told the new 'pods were set to be delivered the 15th (that's the "meh" news). I was initially given a bit of static over "cashing in" my PSP, but eventually they saw it my way: I can come back anytime before 12/22 and exchange it for any other DAP for the original full purchase price of $299.99 + tax (the "good" news They are totally out of 5.5 gens, as (cr)Apple stopped shipping them a few weeks back to make ready for the new(ish) wave. As to Archos--none will be stocked in stores, apparently. The only way for me to get on is the online store (same with Circuit City)........ Unless news leaks that the rumored Zune is forthcoming, it looks like I'm gonna drink some (cr)Apple-flavo(u)red Kool-Aid.... As I see it for my usage (and in comparison to my much-loved H320), the pros are: 4X storage capacity and battery life and a lossless codec (unsure how good gapless is in practice with the 'pod) with Rockbox being a likely development plus a more scratch-resistant all-metal casing and no FM radio (yes, I consider that a plus!). Cons: worries about battery life/replacement (though I'm getting a PSP/PRP for the new unit as well and have my Sansa as sturdy back-up); no custom EQ (eventually solved by RB, I'm sure); no remote, and; becoming a spammer-extraordinaire @ i(Zombie)Lounge! (And I will still refer to the co. as (cr)Apple and Jobs as Stevie.) Mind yer nizzles, bizzles, cuz the BBD is a-comin' down Ye Olde Track, parenthetical whiz-bang and all.......
