only if you were to buy a raw cable-mountable male plug from an electronics shop (that would have to be one fancy shop  ) if you're snipping it off the mini-B end of a premade cable you don't have access to pin 4 at all because it will be "NC" (no connection). i think you either gotta do it 1cf2's way or buy the dongle.
