Talking Tutorial: How to get USBOTG to work with US iriver H3xx

I started a new thread because the other thread was over used and would probably confuse someone who didnt know what they were doing.
Thanks to cyberguest for hosting the pics and Skeil for all this technical guidance. Also thanks to Reggie we have better pics of what the cable is suppose to look like.

I modified the tutorial and made it a bit easier....Im not sure if its going to work because its a little differnt then what i have. If it doesnt work let me know and ill add the extra steps so its similar to mine. Dont worry if it doest work...it can be correct easily...

Some notes:
1. Im an amatuer when it comes to electronics.
2. This tutorial is meant for people who dont have much knowledge about electronics.
3. You will most likely not messup anything by following this tutorial. The mod is pretty safe and non invasive...but....
4. You are responsible for anything you do to your device.
-------Start-----------
This is the overall plan...if you can understand this then the rest of it will be alot easier to understand.

Note the pictures i have will be differnt then your actual results because my cable is slightly differnt than the one that will be made with this tutorial(IGNORE THE small Black wire connections)...If someone actually used this tutorial and has pics of thier cable please send them to me or cyberguest.

Things you need.
1. Iriver H3xx with korean 1.25x firmware(learn to flash the US version in other threads)
2. Iriver host cable

3. Cyberpower Battery powere USB hub
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....1&type=product
4. wire strippers
5. electric tape
6. scissors
7. knife
8. Any usb device that you want to connect to your iriver.(Im using a sandisk 12 in 1 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....roduct....most flash drives work too)
9. a glue gun..costs like 5 dollars at home depot
10. 1 wire..Im sure you have some at home. You can rip open a telephone cable(which most people have plenty to spare) or you can get some from radio shack. http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...%5Fid=278-1221

Step 1.
Charge the cyberpower usb . It charges when you hook it up to a computer. Takes 6 housrs i believe.

AFTER YOU MOD THE EXTENTSION CABLE DO NOT USE IT TO CHARGE THE HUB!..You can charge it by PLUG IT IN DIRECTLY w/o extension cable or use a normal extention cable..ALSO KEEP THE MODDED CABLE UNPLUGGED WHEN YOUR NOT USING

Step 2.
Strip the usb extension cable(the silver/clear one) that came with the Cyber power. DO NOT CUT IT IN HALF or THIRDS! You want to remove the outercovering..Unwra p all the protective aluminum and silver wires....they are just thier for insulation. You should see 4 wires inside...DO CUT THE White Black, and Green Wires!! (DONT CUT BLACK WIRE as shown in the pictures)

Step 3.
Go ahead and cut the red wire on the extension cable...Strip both ends.
Ok the extension cable is now ready...put it aside.. (DONT CUT BLACK WIRE as shown in the pictures)

Step 4.
Strip the spare wire. Both ends.

Step 5.
Unplug the cyberpower hub and open the battery panel on the back.
...first remove the outer most battery...I connected the space wire on the side of the little bump(positive side)..Try to find a place where you can connect the wire and place a small piece of electric tape on it. Make sure you dont put it directly on the little bump otherwise the batery wont be able to connect to the device. I made a little hole on the right side of the battery panel(i made the hole with a nail file) to let the wire out of the device and still allow me to close the panel.(we'll call this wire power from now on)

Step 6.
This is the hard part..it takes patience...
on the usb extension cable...
reconnect the red wires to each other by twisting them together...You might have to squeze the cable together a bit to do this...Now twist the red wires together with the power wire coming from the cyberpower hub(3 wires total)...

Step 7.
Now you might want to use that electric tape...and wrapt it around the connections. Dont wrap it too much...you want to try it out and make sure it works before finalizing it.

Step 8.
Everything should work now...plug the usb extention cable into the cyberpower hub and the other end into the Host cable. Connect a device into one of the 4 cyberpower usb ports...If the device you have works it should auto appear in your browser. Otherwise check your connections. If everything works i usually hot glue everything to PREVENT CONNECTIONS FROM moving or bieng pulled apart(you really dont have to do this)...I put electric tape afterwards to make it look better....

When everything is connected it should look like this....

DO NOT USE THE MODDED EXTENTSION CABLE TO CHARGE THE HUB!..You can charge it by PLUG IT IN DIRECTLY w/o extension cable or use a normal extention cable..ALSO KEEP THE MODDED CABLE UNPLUGGED WHEN YOUR NOT USING

I hope this helps someone...
