Have you upgraded to the latest firmware (& is it MTP or what)? Have you tried the "Refresh Database" option in the "Extras" menu?

Where is this confusion you speak of coming from? There's a multitude of people on here more than willing to help you out, rest assured. I can tell you this - keep your Creative product & don't be surprised when the headphone jack goes out, because most likely that's what will happen...
