Since installing is a peice of cake what do you need to do afterwards?
You have to make sure the hard drive you order is compatible with your H340 -- newer ones have different connectors, like ZIF, that will NOT work in you H340. You need a drive with an ATA-6 interface, and I think 40 pins (or is it 50?). Remember, NOT ZIF.

So far the only 80 gig Toshiba model that is known for sure to work is the MK8007GAH, and the only 60 gig model is the MK6006GAH.

However, Toshiba has announced some new models with ATA-7 that MIGHT work, but no one here has had experience with yet, like the 120 GB MK1214GAH. Probably the easiest thing is to ask them if the drives they are suggesting can be connected to older ipods, like the 4th Generation or older. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Gen ipods use the same connector as the H300 line. Note though that you don't want a drive that has been pre-formatted for ipods, or you will need to repartition it yourself -- the Toshiba drives that Apple uses have a hidden partition put on them that can mess things up with the H300 series.

For an H340, you want the thicker double-platter drives mentioned above. You could do us a big favour here at Misticriver by also asking them about whether the new single-platter drives will work in the H320 (again, you'll probably have to ask if they will work in old ipods). The new single-platter drives I think might work are the 60GB MK6028GAL and the 80GB MK8025GAL.

Anyway, once you get your drive, you'll need to format it with FAT32, since the H340 won't work with an NTFS partition. You'll need to use special software like Swissknife, since Windows won't let you format a FAT32 drive bigger than 32 GB.

EDIT: It looks like the new drives come with something called a LIF connector (Low Insertion Force?). It might be incompatible like the ZIF connector. Best to ask them.
