Can someone knowledgable confirm that I am screwed?

I thought I followed the rockbox instructions carefully. My player tries to boot. I get a message that a rockbox file cannot be found and the player shuts off.

Is there any recovery? Windows does not recognize the player. The player will not boot up. Do I just throw the player away?
