Slow scans here too after adding a bunch of files via WMP in MTP mode. None are in the root directory, but some big subdirectories from a couple of audio books, one short, one long. 380 files, 23 second scan time under v.1.02 and about the same with v1.03. Not the end of the world, but I too hope a firmware fix improves.
