Interesting ideas.
I use a bit of insulating tape on the joystick which fits in the 'dent' nicely. It needs replacing every so often as it sometimes gets unstuck, but it's a cheap and removable alternative to gluing anything onto the player.
I keep my H120 in its iSkin, so there's no chance of it slipping around.
