I'm no expert on X20's but I've been around long enough to hopefully be able tot help you out.
1. Unless I+3 isn't working properly then don't worry about updating.
2. No idea sorry.
3. Many people have taken to using
iriverter, with a custom profile.

4. I'm not 100% sure but I think rockbox is for HD players, X20 is flash.
