Question US h10 5gb is overheating when plugged in and wont hold a charge

Hi All,

I recently bought a refurbished US h10 5gb on ebay. I'm having issues getting it to work.

When i plug it in to charge, the player heats up very quickly. I opened the player and it seems to be coming from the connector and moves along to the rest of the board. I bought a replacement battery and this has not made any difference.
As a result the player wont work, I have left it charging despite the heat and although it will work for a little while, it doesnt seem to hold a charge. I am worried that too much heat will destroy the player.
I have updated the firmware to the most recent version and this has not helped either.
It is a US version however I am from Ireland. I am using the supplied AC charger along with a suitable adaptor. I dont believe this should make a difference but I dont understand why its not working? could this be the reason?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
