I just bought a 550 on close out. I have read on this forum that the Sony AC-E45A ac adapter can be used with the 550. It is rated at 1000mAmps. iriver sent specs for the ac adapter for the 550 and they recommend 1.2Amps. Is it ok to use the Sony even though it is rated at 1000mAmps?

Also, does the 550 require a regulated AC adapter? I asked iriver this question twice and never got an answer. I ask because I bought a 4.5v Radio Shack ac adapter that is rated at 1600 mAmps. But the package does not say it is regulated. When I turn on my head phone amp hooked to the line out I get a hum with the Radio Shack adapter even though the 550 is not turned on. As soon as I power on the 550 the hum goes away.

I just want to make sure I wind up with the correct AC adapter and don't damage the 550.
