Nothing I have done so far has triggered my Win2K (SP4) machine to recognize the device. I updated the firmware on an XP machine and did everything I was told to do, such as convert it to UMS. But my WMPv10 still can't access anything beyond noticing that a T30 is there when it's plugged into the USB and turned on. Likewise, when I try to add hardware, it again asks for drivers, which makes sense, but where would a driver be for this? I saw it work on the XP machine, but on the Win2K, it remains invisible.

I believe folks here who say the T-30 can mesh with other OS's, but iRiver sure is adamant they don't. Here's my recent exchange with them:

Subject:T-30 with Win2K

I keep hearing that the T-30 *does* work with Win2K. Where on your site do you describe how to do this? I have access to an XP machine, but much prefer the Win2K machine.

Hello Customer,

As labled on the packaging under "System Requirments" this player requires a Windows Xp operating system. It does not work on any other operating system.

Best regards,

Roland K.

Then how are so many people able to use it on Mac OSX and Win 2K?

Hello Customer,

They shouldn't be, but if they are able to use it then we don't support it. So we would provide no service to them either. The only recomended system and supported system for this player is Windows XP home, Pro, Media Center.

Best regards,

Roland K.
Can we be of further assistance? ...
Could they be more unhelpful?
