My Win2K machine will not recognize the player, the updater which I downloaded from iRiver doesn't even show my device and therefore won't update or connect it to my computer in any way.
If there's another thread (or website anywhere) that gives simple concise instructions on how to mate the T-30 with a Win2K machine, I'd sure like tohave a link to it.

Haven't you been perusing the posts? I can't believe you haven't seen my posts on this very subject!
You have to first upgrade on an XP unit to the latest version of MTP firmware. Then you can use the updater and convert to UMS (on an XP machine). Your Win 2000 computer will then see it as an UMS device. Make sure that you check the windows explorer browser in XP and see if XP sees it as a UMS device. You may have to use the updater twice.

T30 Firmware question for Bongmong and all firmware experts
I don't know what region of the world you're in, but contact customer support to find out what file you need to upgrade your MTP firmware to 1.71 first.
That will save you alot of time.
This whole business of Iriver venturing into MTP was ridiculous. WMP is bloated, resource heavy, and slow to move files over to the T30.
