Hi folks,
this question has already been asked quite a number of times in this thread and I have been here before myself, but my principal question hasn't been answered yet, so here I go again: I'm refering to the [how-to] guides at the very beginning of this thread, in particular the battery-usage-minimization guide which reads:
- run the Stats plugin and record the two figures it gives you. These are counts of directories and files on your player.
- General settings/System/Limits, enter roughly the two figures given by the stats plugin.
- shutdown and restart the player. (important!)
Now, the stats plugin is easy enough to find and run. It gives me two figures: One relatively small (directories), the other one huge (total number of files). In "General settings > system > limits", I can only enter one number. So which one should it be? As the default for that figure is 400 and the number of files I currently have on my iriver is about 5300, I'm a wee bit worried because if I understand the point of the whole thing correctly, the filenames have to be saved to RAM in order to not have to spin up the disk for browsing? Surely that would limit the amound of RAM available for other features like the skip buffer and games (as you can play and listen to music simultaneously, I do that quite a lot).
Could you give me any further advice or tips concerning this issue?
Thanks!
Greetings,
whatchamacallit
