OK, I have decided. I'm returning the T30.
iriver must be punished, at least in a small way, for imposing those incredibly stupid limitations on their player. Why the hell does asia get the better, normal, UMS version anyway? Microsoft probably forced iriver to sign some satanic agreement regarding the US and european markets...
I considered converting it to UMS using the home-brew firmware upgrade at
http://www.mtp-ums.net/, but considering this player's vulnerability to becoming 'bricked', and the fact that changing to UMS firmware voids my warranty, it's just not worth the 320 kbps line-in recording capability, the one unique feature on this product.
Besides, if I do that, iriver still gets paid, and like I said, they must be punished.
