T30 1.7 Firmware Bug
Hi,
The new T30 1.7 Firmware has a fairly serious bug in it. I've only tested with the UMS/EST PURE version of the firmware, but I'm guessing the problem occurs in all the releases of 1.7. Can someone confirm this?
The problem is as follows:
IF the repeat mode is set to shuffle-repeat-folder
AND there is only one track in the folder you are trying to play,
THEN the T30 will crash when the track ends, or if you try to use the skip or search features.
The crash process starts with repeated stuttering followed by a sharp hiss. The player will then reboot. It will continue to repeatedly reboot unless the hold button is engaged - if this is the case then the player will reboot once more and switch off.
After the hold-button procedure, the player will now function again, but it's still liable to crash again if the conditions needed to trigger the problem happen again.
I have also tested the 1.5 and 1.6 versions of the same firmware - the problem doesn't exist in these versions. It's only an issue in 1.7. I have informed the New Zealand iRiver support line about this issue, but would encourage others to do the same - the more complaing that iRiver get the more likely they are to fix it quickly. Can someone test the MTP version of 1.7? I don't have an MTP player to do this with. It would also be good to know if this is also an issue with the T10/T20 players too.
Cheers,
Bletch
