"unofficial conversion" will make your T30 to be true "T30 UMS"... like you bought it somwhere in Asia
it will even only accept UMS updates - you can update it with any new UMS firmware for T30 and never with MTP firmware again, no further "unofficial" firmware needed
genuine UMS T series players (those from Asia) does not have any "line-in limitations", those are iFP series players which have (and it was hardware, not software/firmware limit)... so you will still be able to record with 320kbps quality...
T series has nothing with iFP series... they must be considered separately!
---
and BTW even with MTP firmware you STILL can transfer them to computer!
plug player to comp with winXP, *close* this pop-up autorun window (do not select "synchronize"), go to "My Computer" where you find "iriver T30" icon, go there, go to "MEDIA" folder, go to "RECORDINGS" and voila...
... there are your recordings saved as MP3 files -> select them all and drag on Desktop (or anywhere)
