I'm one Sick Moggie/FG - depending on who you know me as....

No, not a confession.. nor a plea for sympathy, but a simple topic to explain both my absence in the last week and also some of my ever-decreasing tolerence for idioc/stupidity that sometimes occurs (not here, usually).

I've been out of the loop for a week or so, simply, due to a nasty incident that literally has wrecked my screen time potential for the forseeable future. I'm posting this on the hour of the first night i've been able to acutually focus on objects, let alone a VDU.

Basically, i've discovered i'm now extremely light-sensitive ... to the extent that literally only a darkened room with not much more than the ambient glow of moonlight (through curtains), is about the only amount of light i can bear to be around for more than ten mins at a time.

So please excuse any bad typos, as until i get my new eyewear sorted, i'm typing based on what i can see through darkened glasses that are making me look something like a cross between 'ray charles' cool and 'stevie wonder' blind.

Anyway, the upshot is - unless something improves here rapidly, i'm looking at virtually being off-line as even the screentime i'm indulging in at the moment is literally fuel for a migrane that'll take a day or two to shift.

So, it's possible that i've maybe hit out a little sometimes at people without really meaning to - i put it down to the frustration of rapidly losing use of one of the two natural tools i depend on for work. It's no excuse, however, for getting nasty - so if i have been... i hang my head in shame and await (passively) any backlash due and deserved.

The worst bit, for me, isn't the off-line bit - but it's kinda killed 50% of my work and time with the serious bit of audio - i.e., it's hard to audio edit/process/restore to my usual precision when you now rely on somone else to op the mouse and keyboard on your edit suite.

But since i never compromise on that element of quality, i'm looking at now having to move into the tutorial/knowledge passing bit of it instead - i.e. help others to not make the big clangers the commericial market is making.

Once i know the full limits it's gonna place on me, i'll write back with news as to whether my 'goneness' is going to be permenant or just long-term temporary.

ok, so now you know the score - there aint no chance of me suddenly being declared dead 'n' buried in some freak accident (as someone once posted about me back in the iRiver forum days.

Good luck to all, best of luck to Jeff in his baby (the forum & portal) continuing in good health - and most of all, good luck to all in their enjoyment of sound and players..

Regards...

Chris ... or 'Tom Kat'
