I am pretty into the sport of disc golf (
www.pdga.org) and I like listening to music while I'm out on the course. Problem is, the wires for the headphones get all tangled and are a real pain. It's distracting to be messing with the cords while trying to throw. Today in a burst of inspiration thanks to the 70 degree weather I wired up my h120 with some battery powered speakers from Best Buy. The speakers are flat-panel, powered by 4 AAA batteries, and cost about 20 bucks. I have had them lying around for a while with no good use. The bag I use has mesh water bottle pockets on each side. I put a speaker in each pocket, cut little holes for the power and input cords, laced the cords through the inside of my bag to the player, then clipped the remote outside the bag, upside down so I can access it easier with the bag on my shoulder. It works like a charm, doesn't get in the way, and sounds great. These little speakers produce amazingly clear bright sound for their small size. People on the course were pretty impressed, and my group enjoyed having a little background music for our throwing. All in all, I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to have some portable sound without headphones. While this isn't exactly an mp3 player mod, its so damn cool I had to share. I put up some pictures so ya'll can get a better look. I'd be curious to see how other people have put speakers into bags or other things like that. Thanks, and see you out on the course.
