ah i never plug in my player when it's off because in the old iriver firmware when i tried this it wouldn't be recognized by computer for some reason.
just trying it out now with rockbox i can't tell a difference between this bootloader usb mode and when i plug the usb cable in when the player has already booted and the usb icon shows up.
