Other Solution if T30 installation leads to instant shutdown and reboot of PC
In my case the reason for not installing my t30 was a conflict between my on board USB 1.0 and my new USB 2.0 PCI card I installed recently.

If you have problems with installing yout T30 using an USB 2.0 PCI card in addition to your onboard USB 1.0 you may consider trying the following:

Solution:
I deactivated the onboard USB in my BIOS , deinstalled all USB devices in the device manager and rebooted. Windows XP reinstalled automatically all USB devices/ports and now its working perfectly!
