You may want to try and call or email iriver. My warrenty expired a year before i returned it and they still accepted it. My problem was that the motor for moving the laser wasn't working correctly. I wouldn't recommend trying to fix a burned piece of circutry unless you have a degree in electrical engineering. Hope this helps
