That would charge the battery if you removed it from the player first. But, if you wired that up to the DC-in on the iRiver that best you could hopefore it nothing. More likely you'd get smoke.
The iRiver has its charge circuity built into it. what people are (wrongly) calling a 'charger' is actually just a power supply to power the charger in the player.
It would be like trying to run the Constellation off a Pulstar, or visa-versa.
